Principality Stadium Cardiff
For this latest installation, TerraTrak Plus was used to cover 10,500m² of pitch and surrounding areas using a combination of newly manufactured tiles and tiles that have been in continuous service since 2015.
Completed ahead of schedule, the installation was described by the installation team as “the best installation to date”, achieving what were considered the straightest tile lines ever installed at the venue.
The challenge
As one of the UK’s leading multi-purpose venues, Principality Stadium regularly transforms its playing surface to accommodate concerts, motorsport events and large-scale entertainment productions while maintaining the standards expected of a world-class stadium.
For this installation, the stadium required:
- Protection of the hybrid pitch structure and sub-base
- Accurate alignment across a large installation area
- Efficient installation within a restricted timeframe
- Integration of existing and newly manufactured flooring

Careful planning and precise positioning of the initial rows established a strong foundation for the installation. Working across day and night shifts, the installation team progressed efficiently, completing the majority of the work overnight and finishing ahead of programme.
The installation incorporated both newly manufactured TerraTrak Plus tiles and tiles that have been in continuous service since 2015. Their seamless integration within a single installation demonstrates the exceptional durability, compatibility and long-term value of the system after more than a decade of use.
