What makes TerraTile unique?

TerraTile is engineered from translucent high-density polyethylene with a distinctive circular webbing beneath each tile to deliver high strength without unnecessary weight, and to encourage light transmission to the turf below. Tiles are assembled in groups of four and pinned together to form larger panels, which are quickly connected on site. TerraTile sits in Terraplas’ pedestrian range as the versatile, ‘does-most-things’ option alongside TerraFlor (our most transportable system) and TerraPlas (the original, widely trusted solution), giving venue teams a reusable, transportable and efficient panel format.

Quick deployment

Time between events is tight, especially when a televised football match follows a sell-out concert, for example. TerraTile’s panelised format, in which four tiles are pinned into a larger unit that pins to the next, cuts installation time while maintaining alignment and surface flatness. Shorter floor-on/floor-off windows limit disruption to grounds operations and simplify logistics, especially when combined with Terraplas’ proven installation methods and storage stillages.

Fitting with multi-use stadiums

Multi-use venues usually require a system that can adapt to various layouts and crowd sizes without creating a patchwork of different products. TerraTile’s modular, interlocking panels make it easy to configure continuous pedestrian areas, back-of-house walkways and mixed-use zones, and integrate seamlessly with Terraplas’ wider portfolio where needed.

This means the same surface system can be used confidently for ceremonies, concerts, fan-on-pitch experiences and community events, with consistent handling and familiar connection hardware for the crew.

Lightweight & traffic capacity

Though lightweight, TerraTile is designed to take sustained footfall and the occasional passage of light utility vehicles with pneumatic tyres (e.g., gators and trolleys) generally used during event builds. The circular webbing understructure helps distribute loads efficiently, helping the surface remain stable under crowd surges and protecting the grass sward from point loading, giving operators the confidence to open additional standing space or re-route flows without compromising the integrity of the turf below.

Maintaining your turf health

Not only does effective turf protection block wear and tear, but it should also support recovery. TerraTile’s translucent construction allows light to pass through the grass canopy, which, together with Terraplas’ ventilation-led tile design approach across the range, allows photosynthetic activity during short cover periods.

For venues needing extended cover time, Terraplas recommends TerraTect, an organic biostimulant that mitigates stress from heat and humidity while the surface is covered. These measures work together to keep pitches closer to optimal condition, even with tighter changeovers.

Safety & slip resistance

Large-scale crowd management depends on a flat, continuous, slip-resistant surface that reduces trip hazards, particularly in wet conditions.

Terraplas’ pedestrian systems use interlocking connections to create stable platforms with anti-slip textures, and optional ramps and edges to smooth transitions at access points. TerraTile employs the same design philosophy, providing a consistent walking surface that crews and safety teams recognise and trust, and is a standard used by major stadiums and arenas globally.

Cost efficiency & longevity

TerraTile is part of a range already trusted by more than 260 venues worldwide and is built to last. Its durable materials and panel design are made for repeated use, quick handling and tidy storage, so maintenance needs are low and replacements are infrequent, reducing ongoing system costs over time and helping avoid expensive turf-repair bills.
